  1. How to register

  4. The unregistered version of Smart Quotes is available free of charge, and can
  5. be distributed freely provided all the files are distributed intact, including
  6. this one. But if you intend to use Smart Quotes regularly – if you are still
  7. using it more than a fortnight after you got it – you must register.
  8.  
  9. This involves sending me £10 or 100 Francs, whichever currency is more
  10. convenient for you (cheques only please), and a disc. If you live outside the
  11. EU, some sort of contribution towards postage costs would be appreciated. If
  12. Smart Quotes is to be used on a network, the fee is £25 or 250 Francs. I’ll
  13. send the disc back with a registered version and anything else that will fill
  14. up the disc.

  16. If I don't have ready access to an Acorn machine, I won't be able to
  17. personalise your copy of Smart Quotes myself; you'll have to do it. This is a
  18. fairly painless procedure, which involves you telling Smart Quotes your name
  19. and a special code number. Because of space limitations, your name must be
  20. less than 26 characters long – that shouldn’t be a problem for the vast
  21. majority of people, but you never know.

  23. I have two addresses: my term-time address in Scotland, and my home address
  24. in France. I will generally be in France during the holidays (Summer,
  25. Christmas and Easter), and in Scotland the rest of the time. When in doubt,
  26. send things to France (replies may be slower, though). The addresses are:

  33. replies, though, as it’s a slow and expensive Minitel service.
